Here's the deal...you wouldn't buy an unfinished house would you? For the same reason you should NOT rent an unfinished space. Chatham Mills is a beautiful space, but it is not fit to be rented until it is a FINISHED space. I suggest that you only rent under the following conditions:

-Heat and AC are installed in the entire building
-The electrical system is rewired.
-You see the place at night to evaluate whether there is enough light
-There is a designated event coordinator-do NOT try to do this through Tom. He is (probably?) very busy, and as such will not respond to your e-mails or phone calls.
-The event coordinator will be with you during set-up to help.
-You get in your contract that the room will be cleaned beforehand. We actually had to go out and buy a push broom before our event because the room was gross and there was no broom to be found.
-You take into consideration all of the other costs that you will incur: fire inspection, insurance, paying someone to be there (ideally that should be included in the rental price)
-You have a high tolerance for "doing it yourself". You will be doing everything yourself here, so be ready for that.
-You pay NO MORE than $2000. Even with all of these considerations more than that is just robbery.
